How To Wash Sand Cloud Towels

Once you’ve brought a Sand Cloud towel to the beach you’ll never bring a different kind of towel with you ever again!

Made out of almost foolishly soft Turkish cotton, the towels from Sand Cloud sound too good to be true – but they more than live up to (and even exceed) all expectations.

Not only are these towels about the softest thing you could use to dry your body, they also are resistant to sand, dry quickly, and are oversized.

Because Sand Cloud towels are made from Turkish cotton, though, people aren’t always sure of how to wash and care for them.

In the rest of this detailed breakdown we go over all the ins and outs of keeping your Sand Cloud towels looking and feeling fresh for years and years to come.

Believe it or not, they are a whole lot easier to take care of than you would have thought – and are machine washable.

  1. Light, Short Cycle
  2. Add Mild Detergent
  3. Air Dry

Let’s jump right in!

Everything You Need to Know About How to Wash Sand Cloud Towels

Step 1 – Pre-Wash Setup

The folks at Sand Cloud recommend that you prewash your towels before you take them down to the beach (or just use them in your bathroom) and this isn’t advice you want to ignore.

Pre-washing your towels helps you sort of “fluff” the Turkish cotton they are made from, making these super luxurious towels even more comfortable, even softer, and even more absorbent than they would have been otherwise.

The prewash process is super simple and straightforward, too:

Drop your brand-new Sand Cloud towel into your washing machine, but the setting to cold water rinse for about 15 minutes, and then let your washing machine handle the rest for you.

You don’t need to add any detergent and you definitely don’t want to add any bleach.

When it comes time to dry your prewashed Sand Cloud towel simply wring it out into the sink and let it air dry. It’s not going to take very long.

Step 2 – Washing Your Sand Cloud Towels

Washing your Sand Cloud towels is a lot like the process for prewashing them, though this time you’ll want to add a little bit (a very small amount) of mild detergent into a warm gentle cycle.

The warm water will break up stains, dirt, sand, and anything else that got stuck in the Turkish cotton towels. Just a little bit of detergent – never any bleach – will pull off anything that the warm water struggled with on its own.

Step 3 – Drying Your Towel

You don’t want to pop your Sand Cloud towels in the dryer at any point in time.

These towels dry unbelievably fast (we are talking about drying in just a few minutes) thanks to Turkish cotton, a cotton fiber that does not like prolonged exposure to extreme heat.

Unless you want your towels to lose softness, fluffiness, and overall absorption and drying capabilities you’ll want to make sure that these stay out of the dryer.

Wring them out by hand when you pull them from your washing machine, hang them on a clothesline, or just generally let them air dry. You’ll be a lot happier with the results – and your towels will last a lot longer, too.

Closing Thoughts

Something else you want to keep in mind when learning how to wash Sand Cloud towels is to keep fabric softener as far away from your towels as possible.

Fabric softener works by physically impregnating the material of your towel with a softening agent, a softening agent that can dramatically lower the absorbency of your towels – making them hard, crunchy, and not all that useful to dry yourself off with.

Keep this in mind (alongside the rest of our washing instructions above) and your Sand Cloud towels will last a lifetime!
